I liked this book.

This book made me think more about friendship.

I did like this book because of the comedy, drama and more! I would recommend this book to people who like latkes and Hanukkah. The main character Penina must go through many different obstacles to find out why her teacher is leaving. She also must figure out how to deal with her sister. This book is a Jewish book because the family is Jewish, and the book talks about Jewish traditions.

I liked this book.

Penina has a little sister Mimsy and she is annoying and the rest of the class thinks she is really cute. Penina's teacher has to go somewhere and Penina is really sad. It made me feel bad for her. Also because Zozo, her best friend, was going to Aruba. I think it's cool that she made a ton of different kind of latkes.

Really good

I loved this book!

This book made me think more about the importance of family.

This was a good book. I enjoyed its humor and surprising events. Penina is having a roller coaster holiday. First, her best friend goes to Aruba for the holidays. Then, her teacher leaves in a mysterious absence. Worst of all, her family holiday of hanukkah, almost loses its meaning (caused by her sister). Will penina make it through the holidays without being driven crazy by her sister? I don't know. You will have to read the book to find out.

It was a really good book.

I think that people that want to read something about a girl dealing with a lot of problems at once then this is the book for you. I loved this book. Penina did not finish her present for her parents. Mimsy [her sister] wanted to open presents the 1st night of Hanukkah. Her mom said that they could each open one. Penina said she thought they should wait until Grandma and Grandpa got there. I hope you choose this book.

I loved this book!

This book made me think more about the importance of family.

This book is a perfect mix of the importance of Hanukkah, annoying little sisters, teacher issues, and so much more of the great context of this book! Penina is such a fun-loving character but you can relate to her in so many ways. I read this more times than I could count! My favorite part was when Penina cooked latkes for her family. I agree with Mimsy: PB & J latkes sound pretty delicious to me. YOU SHOULD READ THIS BOOK!

Penina Levine is a Potato Pancake is a great book!
Submitted 7/31/2016 by Design Team

It is one of our favorites! It is about a girl named Penina Levine who has a really annoying 4 year-old sister named Mimsy. Mimsy yells a lot. She also embarrasses Penina.
This story is set on Hanukkah, a Jewish holiday. Every night Penina and Mimsy fight about something different.
Penina has a best friend named Zozo. They do everything together. But Penina is a little jealous of Zozo because she doesn't have a little sister.
They also have a teacher named Mrs. Brown. She has short hair and she has a big smile. She teaches the children in Penina and Zozo's class while staying kind.
During the book you will hear a little bit more about Hanukkah and how Penina elaborates it. We LOVE this book and you should all read it!!!

When I saw this book, I thought it wouldn't be that great a book. But boy was I wrong! This book gave a glimpse of life with a younger sibling. It really made me love Penina, smile when Zozo was mentioned because of how great the author described them. I recommend this book to people who want a book of family and friendship.

I love this book!!! It's really good (even though Penina can be really snotty). I'm not trying to make her sound bad she's a really sweet girl (when she's not yelling that is :) . However, most of the time I get where she's coming from.

This book made me think more about being Jewish.

Penina Levine is a Potato Pancake was a really good book, but also dealt with not such "good" and "easy" topics, like sickness, death, and family dynamics. I liked how Penina and her friend support their teacher when she is going through a hard time, and how that helps Penina's best friend to be able to talk to Penina for the first time about harder parts of her life (don't want to give any spoilers!) The mom and grandma thing was really good too. Very realistic relationship. Look forward to reading the next one!

Panina Levine is a great character. She really realistic with a totally real problem. But the story line has almost no action. it's real, she forgot to make her parents a Hanukkah present so she avoids gift giving idea. I don't really think that's really interesting book.
