One Little Goat: A Passover Catastrophe

This graphic novel is about a not-so-wise son falling through time with a talking goat to find the afikomen (a special piece of matzah) so he can finally end his family's never-ending Seder (Passover meal). If that sounds weird to you - hang on - it's about to get even weirder...

The Wise Child does not like seders. He thinks they are utterly boring. So when the baby throws the afikomen and no one can find it, he is anything but happy. Since the seder cannot end without the afikomen, The Wise Child and his whole family have been stuck at the seder for six months! When he hears a mysterious knock at the door, the Child is eager to get up. He finds a talking goat, who takes him back in time on a journey to find the afikomen... My favorite part was when the goat told the child to think in the perspectives of his sibling, like the baby who threw the afikomen, his “evil” sister, or his simple brother. The story really made me think about the true meaning of Passover and hope. I learned that the Passover story still exists, because thinking and asking questions can be like freedom. I rate this book a 100 out of 10. Dara Horn has truly created a funny, intriguing masterpiece.

I really like this book because it keeps your attention and it is a good fantasy story. The illustration are cool but black and white. If you like a little bit of history and a little bit of fantasy I recommend this book.

In the book, One Little Goat, by Dara Horn, a boy gets stuck in a seder because his baby sister threw the afikoman through a portal. 6 months later, the boy meets a talking goat who found the afikoman and hid it in a safe place. So the boy follows the goat to find the afikoman. My favorite character is the goat because he is very weird and everyone in the book thinks he’s weird, too. Also, this book is a graphic novel, so if you like graphic novels, you should probably read this book.
