Review by Lilah

This book taught me so many things! It tells the story of Purim and its adventurous tale! I learned to stand up for others and myself with might in the toughest of situations. This epic story, told through a comic strip, reminded me that it is OK to always be me and to be kind and respect others! I highly recommend this book!

Graphic novel

Review by RollingThunder

I liked that the book helped me understand the meaning of Purium. It was an easy read for me so I liked that also. I really enjoy graphic novels and it had neat speech bubbles that kept me interested.

This book is a graphic dramatization of the Purim story (Megillat Esther). It tells the story of how Queen Esther miraculously rescued the Persian Jewish community from the evil Haman in vibrantly illustrated comics. Peppered with kid-friendly jokes, clever quizzes, and fun illustrations, this book is sure to entertain as well as introduce the characters and details of this exciting story in a fun and engaging way. This hilarious graphic novel contains details based on a Midrashic (ancient Rabbinic interpretation) understanding of the Purim story. For example, the idea that Queen Vashti forced her maids to work on Shabbat or that she was afflicted with pimples are not found in the Megillah text, but are based on the Midrash.
