Why can’t Stoons have more than one kid? Why can’t they own pets or practice magic? And why do they wear red berets? Dany doesn’t know … but he intends to find out.
I loved this book! Although I’d call it fantasy, it has the wonderful, familiar homey-ness of mythology and characters that have the most satisfying, twisty arcs. But what I loved most was the plot! It was fun, exciting, emotional, and very real. Even though the world of Gottika is very different from things I’m familiar with, I could still relate to parts of this book, like wanting siblings, or feeling angry with how the world is. And though those are the main tones I got from this book, I would also recommend it to people who like mystery and realistic/historical fiction, since it’s so well-written that it seems to have bits that fall into all those categories!
Fantastic, fun book with so many elements!
