Here is the challenge!
Three of our November books are connected to Hanukkah (Aces Wild, Mitzvah the Mutt, and The Inquisitor’s Apprentice). In some ways, even Letters from Rifka connects to Hanukkah. Write a blog post about what you thought about the book you chose and how you think it connects to Hanukkah. Submit it to email@example.com before Sunday, December 21. We’ll choose three of the top posts to include in January’s Design Team Blog!
On Hanukkah we remember a brave battle and a miracle! The battle took place over 2000 years ago between a small group of Jews called Maccabees and the army of King Antiochus who wanted to destroy the Jewish temple. The miracle was that after the Maccabees won, the small amount of olive oil used to light the menorah (a lamp with seven branches) lasted for eight days until new olive oil arrived! Hanukkah starts the evening of the 25th of the Jewish month of Kislev and lasts for eight days. This year that’s Tuesday, December 16 through Wednesday, December 24.
