In the Length of a String, Imani's Bat Mitzvah is coming up and all she wants to know is where she comes from. She is adopted and doesn't know a lot about her birth parents. Then one day, she finds her great-grandma Anna's diary, and she reads about how she came over to America to escape the Nazi's. Imani's reads about Anna's hopes and dreams of her new life in America. I was so hooked on the book I finished in less then 4 hours. It was truly incredible! I could relate to this book because I am Jewish, and don't always come across many fabulous books as this one. Definitely recommend!!!!

This book was so good and exiting it leaves you wondering a lot. I didn't want to stop reading it. It is a little sad and if you get scared really easily you might not like it.

The Length of a String is an amazing historical fiction/WWII book about a girl who finds the diary of her great-grandmother, from the Holocaust, soon after she dies. This evokes a powerful feeling inside her, and she longs to find out about her own history, as she was adopted. I would recommend this book to people who like historical fiction books about the Holocaust, and like books with some mysteries of identity and the meaning of family. This book is probably best for older and more mature kids who are 9 years old and above, and understand the topic of the Holocaust. This was a great book, and I'd give it 4.5 stars, but I was not able to.
