I liked the book a lot because a lot of things happened and Batya helped her family.

Woodcarvers daughter

Review by ninjafox

This book is pretty awesome but I would not skip school! This was a pretty sad book about Sarah being deaf and the pogroms lighting the houses on fire but other than that it was it really good!

The Woodcarver's Daughter

Review by mayu4

This book is super fun, it helped me realize how hard things were in the year 1915. Batya is a great character, and she's exactly like her horse, Mala; high-strung and spirited. One of my favorite parts is when Gittel cuts Batya's hair. A lot of my ancestors are from Europe, and some are from Russia. Moving to a whole new country has to be difficult, and Batya survived it! In some books, I just read it. But in The Woodcarver's Daughter, it made me feel like I was in the story. When Batya was at the fair, I felt her excitement. When they were hiding from the pogrom, I felt her fear. I've read the book almost seven times already, and I've copied half the story on the computer. Overall, this book is really good, and I definitely recommend it.
