Well-Written and Heartwarming

Review by NationalDesignTeam

Operation Frog Effect is a well-written, heartwarming book. In this book, students discover how they can make an impact in the world. The issues of discrimination, immigration, homelessness and poverty, and the right to education are illuminated through the interactions of students in a public-school class. I love this book because it is written like a personal diary, but it’s from the perspective of multiple kids who are in the same class. As the kids come from different backgrounds, this book reflects the challenges and benefits of diversity as the kids all have to work together. It also touches on the different living conditions of the students, as some of them live in mansions while others can’t afford a house, and some are constantly moving from place to place. In this book, a class of kids who used to be enemies become friends as they unite to solve real world problems in their communities. This book made me think a little deeper about education and how, in some other countries, kids can’t attend school. It made me want to give back to my community. - Elijah, National Design Team
