Okay, here’s the basics about this book. Nan, the main character, is a chimney sweep. However, this is not the life it looks like in Mary Poppins. It’s hard, people are cruel, and there’s almost no pay. Oh, and if you get stuck up the tiny chimney, they kill you. So, yeah. Not Nan’s ideal life. Anyway, she gets stuck, so they almost burn her alive. A piece of charcoal she always keeps in her pocket from her old master comes alive and saves her, and now they’re fugitives. And they also want to save the rest of the sweeps. Anyway, please don’t read this book if you can’t handle the sadness of some really good characters dying. If you can get past that, the book is amazing. Again, VERY SAD. DO NOT READ IF YOU CANNOT HANDLE THAT KIND OF STUFF.
