Pickled Watermelon is about a girl spending part of he summer in Israel and learning that strange for her is normal for Israel. I wish i could tell you more but I don't want to spoil it for you. It's such a good book!
I really liked it, but pickled watermelon wasn't mentioned for more than 3 pages.
Molly goes to Israel but it's not what she expects. She can finally communicate with her grandparent, but how?
The book only mentioned pickled watermelon a couple times. It didn't drive the plot, and although it is an Israeli food, so are a lot of other foods mentioned, and so I find it kind of strange that it is called "Pickled Watermelon." I like it, but it is very short.
This was a very well-composed book, but pickled watermelon, the title, is mentioned and talked about for about 2-4 pages! It also never really had a main plot or a driving plot device, but it was very interesting and thoughtful.
