The cover looks babyish but the book was really interesting. I learned more about history in NY, being a Jewish immigrant at that time and what it was like to be Black. I wanted it to continue.
This story tells you about how life can be hard & not everything good will come to you, But friends can help you get through all the hard parts. It was depressing to learn about the racism of Nazi's vs. Jews, Americans vs. Immigrants, Whites vs. Blacks. It just broke my heart to learn about that.
This is a very good book. It's about friendship and doing what you want no matter what other people think. I loved it.
I really liked this book from the start because it was such an interesting story! I couldn't put it down! I loved the ending too, but I won't spoil it! ; )
This book was probably my favorite book yet! I liked this book so much because it was historical fiction. I would recommend this book to others who like the topic about immigration to America. Someone who might like this book is someone who has a family member who has immigrated to America. The reason for this is because Gustave the main character is a Jewish immigrant in America. In this book the lesson was to always persevere through things. One of the things Gustave had to persevere through Is trying to fit in in school because of his clothes.
