This book is about how an orthodox girl named Mirka dreams about slaying dragons, but she doesn't encounter anything until one day when she is walking home from school and sees a large house. A woman is floating in the air, trimming a tree! Mirka plucks a grape of her fence and makes enemies with the woman's pet pig. Apparently the woman is a witch. After being tormented by the pig, Mirka convinces the pig to let her go. Then, she frees the pig from some bullies who had tied up the pig. In return for freeing the pig, Mirka gets directions to a magic troll who can give her the sword. But Mirka must win a duel. A knitting duel. Mirka could win, and get the sword, or, lose and be eaten. But she is a horrible knitter. Read to see what happens! It is an amazing book!
It was super duper funny, action-packed, and so atmospheric! The drawings are wonderful, and some parts were even scary! I like this book because it talks about overcoming hard tasks, and not following one person's every move, and to be true to yourself.
I loved it! Mirka has a mind of her own, and she is not afraid to try new things. She wants a sword, so she works towards it. I really recommend this book!
this book was bad in many different ways though it had good art
This book is really good! I'm not orthodox, but I think I still can understand. In this book you will learn how to say a little bit of Yiddish. It has 25 % of importance to family members. The only problem is that it was not scary enough. That's just my opinion, it's not a fact. I would like to give a shout to Barry Deutsch! Hope you have a great time reading!😜
