It made think of how important family is, because Gustave had to help some of his family when things were difficult.

This book was really good! in the book you are Gustave, a boy who got out of Paris and escapes just below the demarcation line.

This book taught me more about the Holocaust. Gustave must go through many hardships being a Jew from France. The book has some very scary parts, though, and Susan Lynn Meyer goes deeply into the details of war. If you like this book, read the sequel, Skating With The Statue of Liberty. This book is about Gustave once he makes it to the United States of America. A must-read!!
