Good book. a bit sad though. people die and ditch there own family. the main character keeps a secret (and sometimes lies).
Benamino goes on a cargo ship from Napoli to New-York and he doesn't have any money... I kept on guessing what was going to happen next. I recommend this book to 9+.
This was a very interesting and sad book. A nine year old goes to a place where nobody speaks his language and he is alone. It turned out that that was the life for him. He became rich, and faced the fact he was alone, and coped perfectly.
I loved this book. It was really sad in the beginning, and also in the end. But it did make me think more about family and how much his mother loved him even though she had to send him away. It also made me grateful for what I have because these kids have pretty much nothing except each other. I think I would recommend this book to anyone who didn't get sad or scared very easily. The end did scare me a little with the padrone so might not read it if you were under 9. -Flo, 11
