I felt like I was with Lily.
(Disclaimer: It has been a while since I read this book; my recollection of it may not be accurate.) This book contains violence and death as well as high-stakes drama, so I would recommend it to 10+ kids. Lily Renee, Escape Artist is an autobiography in the form of a graphic novel. Lily, as a girl, grows up in Vienna, Austria (Eastern Europe) and her parents are very rich. When WW2 begins, she is oblivious to what is happening around her until things worsen greatly. Her parents send her on a train to England so she can have a new life, but they cannot go. Now in England, she has to adjust to being a servant instead of the employer of servants. They have a completely different schedule than that to which she is accustomed, but she has to learn to comply with their schedule. She works as an assistant nurse so her parents can get visas to come to England as well. Will they be able to get the visas, or will the family be forever separated?
This is a very good book!!!
I liked this book. This book made me think of " I survived world war ll " because Lily was having a hard time during the war she had to get separated from her parents but in the end she became an artist and successful. 👩🏻🎓👩🏻🎨
This book was a fun book to read because of the pictures and comic book style.
