WOW! I would not want to be any where where a hurricane could hit, I wish that the hurricanes would not be so deadly. so many lose all they own. I have been trying to think up ways where I could help these people, help the homeless and the poor. my family while we where in MO ( we are not in MO any more,) but we gave food to some one who was homless, we have helped someone by buying them some food. but I want to learn how to knit and crochet that way I can make a blanket and scarves. I also wnat to learn how to make quilts and make these for the poor and homeless and for people that lose everything they own. plus make things for orphans. what can you do to help the poor, homeless, and for the people that lose every thing including the orphans? thank you pj our way for putting a book like this up, It is my favorite book so far.
This book was decent. I learned a lot from it.
I enjoyed reading this book. This book is about a girl named Gertie who has to leave her home in New Orleans and go to Memphis, Tennessee because Hurricane Katrina is about to come. They stay at their aunt and uncles’ house there. Gertie’s dad has to stay in New Orleans to help save people. When he comes back, he tells everyone that their home was destroyed by the hurricane. They have to start the school year at a different school in Memphis. Gertie makes new friends at her new school. She does many interesting things in Memphis. In the end, she convinces her parents to move back to New Orleans in a trailer and tries hard to make the world a better place.
I think she was protected by God.Her dad was a great man staying be hind.
I liked it. It did have a mistake (first it said one of the girls like gold for the color of their dance outfit, then it said the other girl liked that color) but it is a good book. It made me think about what the people in Houston went through and lost. It made me think about how lucky I am.
