I love how Gertie talks about coping with Hurriccane Katrina, her worry for her family and friends, and it all wraps up into her making the world a better place in this amazing, heartwarming book.

I finished this book because it was a very good book:)

best book ever! i think when the hurricane came is a recommendation for 4th or 3rd graders yea!

This book also made me think more about friendship and if you leave someone they can do great things. In the story it was hard for her to make friends in Memphis but she ended up making two good friends. It also taught me if you lose every thing you can start over and it is ok for things to change. I would let my friend borrow this book.

When the Hurricane Came was an okay book. I thought the book was too short and I wish it was longer. I would recommend this book to others because people might like that it is about hurricanes. Kids that went through or escaped hurricanes because they might want to hear other people’s experiences. The main character is a girl named Gertie that escaped and went through many difficult situations.
