This book is an inspiring story about a kid named Joey that doesn't really know where he belongs. After his mom dies, he learns something he would never think possible about his dad. This die hard Yankees fan moves into Brooklyn territory and learns about another part of his family that, not surprisingly, are baseball fans too. The Yankees-Brooklyn clash is a small part of the story that plays a big role in really creating the whole atmosphere of the story. Back in his old neighborhood, he is teased for being too "white" in an all black community. In Brooklyn, he is bullied for being too "black" in an all white, Jewish community. Reading this book really help anybody understand the racial differences that happened back in the 1940s and how different things are now. This book is a true picture of friendship and an example of equality for everyone. Read this book- it is really good and teaches a really nice, not boring lesson.

This book is a great book for baseball fans! I loved it!
