This book will make even the most unsympathetic reader empathetic. Written in first person, this book tells of the trials of a girl unused to having a parent out of a job. The wording is heartfelt. I especially loved how Sonia evolved throughout the story-- from being unable to see the hidden beauty in some people to being more understanding, sincere, and able to think for herself. The book is also full of beautiful moments where she realizes that life is difficult to cope with and fixes her mistakes, even though it isn't easy. I loved Sonia, and I hope that everyone who reads this review will be inspired to face life's challenges and think for themselves.
Sonia is a half Indian half Jewish girl. When her father loses his job, things go crazy. Sonia has to change schools and she learns that friends can be not so friendly. This is a must read book!!
I could not put this book down! It is about a girl named Sonia who is half Indian and half Jewish. Her father loses his job. Sonia and her sister have to go to a public school after going to a private school. Sonia has to make new friends. She mixes with popular girls who want her to try out for cheer-leading and a not so “in” group. All of a sudden something big happens! You will have to read the book to find out. by Rebecca, Kid Advisory Committee
