This book made me think more about being clever and thinking about things. The End!
This was a really good book!! I learned a lot of new things from this book! I learned that in order to even get on a boat to go to Ellis Island you had to be inspected by a doctor at the port, where, if the doctor thought that something was wrong, you would be sent back to where you came from or you would be sent to another city until you got better. Another reason this book was really good was because of the female strength that Rifka showed. I don't think that I would be as strong as Rifka was if I were to be in her situation. ( I would recommend this book to more advanced readers though, less advanced readers might be a little bit confused but over all this was a REALLY good book.)
This book made me think of the importance of family. Rifka's illness sounds horrible I would hate to have it.
A bit confusing, because the letters in this book are only going one way, but its an amazing book. It gets better as the book keeps going.
Letters from Rifka was a really good book. My favorite highlights were when Rifka (and her family) got TYPHUS but survived; when she saw (and ate) all those nice foods. Also, I liked how she was the "little mother" of a polish baby (when the baby's real mom died from typhus). But my favorite when she moved to America! Yay! 4 stars
