In this book, on her 12th birthday a girl named Beatriz de Luna, finds out that her whole childhood has been a lie. She was raised a good Christian but finds out she is jewish. She can not believe this. As a young, jewish, girl, she takes on many responsibilities. But these are in secret. In her country, those who are jews or conversos, are to be killed. Her family must be in secret. She learns that her real name is Dona Gracia Nasi. Once she is older, she learns secret codes, deals, prayers, and more. She helps her family save jews who are escaping. Throughout this book, she helps her people while teaching traditions and prayers but in private. Great book! Definitely recommend.

I like this book because it is about a girl named Donya Gracia and a secret Jewish name. Donya Gracia fights for a better life and starts going by her Jewish name. She makes a really good life for her kid and for herself. REALLY good book!
