omg one of the best lgbtq books!

Review by CuteMermaid

this book is about a nonbinary kid named Shai who goes to a new school. makes friends (and a crush!) and also is jewish. they have some problems that get mostly solved.I do wish there was a dance scene, but it's still a good book! (also the book Camp Quiltbag is also REALLY good, if you enjoy this book!) ^^

Hooray for Shai and their new normal

Review by LTinuviel

Shai is a relatable main character who tries to solve the problems in their life by making a drastic change: attending public school for the first time and going beyond their comfort zone by making new friends. Shai is also exploring their Jewish heritage, but their mom's ongoing difficulties with her family make it hard for Shai to learn more about it. I hope that Shai's struggles with anxiety help inspire readers to realize that if they have anxiety, depression, or another mental health issue, they don't have to try to face it alone.

Representation

Review by Merbee

I enjoyed reading a book with a character who is genderfluid, homeschooled, and Jewish like me!

OHMYGOSHREADTHISBOOK!!!

Review by Anida

This is a great book that combines Judaism with LGBTQ+. Every step of the way I squealed in delight as the plot unfolded. I do kind of wish there was a dance scene, but other than that it is a great merging of being queer and being Jewish.
