"Things that Shimmer" is about a girl named Melanie who thought nobody else in the whole wide world could relate to her home life or her family. That is, until a new girl moves into town. The girls become fast friends. But there's a catch. Melanie greatly envies the popular kids at school. However, her new friend Dorit doesn't believe in the whole "popular group" thing. (To be honest, neither do I.) When Melanie finally starts hanging out with the Shimmers, Dorit starts avoiding her completely. And on top of all that, the Shimmers won't even allow melanie's OLDEST friend, Vicky, to hang out with them anymore! Will Melanie be able to repare her bond with Dorit and apologize to Vicky? Or is the existence of both the friendships gone forever? (Extra half of a star to "Things that Shimmer.")
I enjoyed reading this book but I found it wasn’t exciting enough. It was still a good read.
I love this book because it had an ending that was realistic. In this book Melanie has to choose between friends; will she pick the new girl who can relate to Melanie when hardly anyone else can or the shimmers, the most popular girls at school. What happens? Pick this book to find out!
I think this is a very good book
I really loved the book!
