I have never read a book quite like this one before. I don't know what it is, but I really enjoyed it. A great book for all ages!
A story a about a young girl who had to have some changes in her life. 😁 Great book!
I loved this book! It had a lot to do with Jewish culture. It is about a Jewish family from Ukraine who moves to the North Dakota prairie. It is written in the perspective of a girl named Shoshanna. It is a very intense book.
This book was amazing. It has a perfect understanding of feeling different because you’re Jewish and is so realistic that I could picture myself in the story. It’s really an amazing book, and I hope that when it gets selected for an option to choose again, that a ton of people choose it, because those people will definitely benefit.
When I was little, some kids in my class loved the Little House on the Prairie books because of all the interesting historical details. I tried to read them, but I lost interest because of the way they presented Native American characters. That's why I'm so happy that I selected this beautifully written book. It's rich in all the details of daily life in pioneer times that make the Little House books favorites even today, but it also tells stories that deserve to be told: about Jewish families who fled persecution in Eastern Europe to start a new farming life in America, as well as the Dakota families whose land was taken from them for these immigrant families to live on. Another thing I loved about this book is that the land itself became a character. I've been to North Dakota and the descriptions of the open land and big sky are perfect. I think the author must be from that area, she knows it so well.
