When 12 year old Gabe accidentally burns down a forest he learns that it isn't only the people living near the forest that were affected it was also the animals living there. He devotes a lot of time to helping clean the forest and eventually comes across Rill a sick and injured coyote that is stuck in a hole. Every day he comes back to the forest and cleans up and gives her some food. He learns that during the fire Rill bit a young toddler out of fear and that because of that act the wildlife clinic wants to put Rill down. In the end Gabe has to devote his time to building chicken coops to make money to protest for Rill to be released into the wild. I highly recommend this book to anybody that likes suspense, action, animals, and just a fun read overall.

i like that it has feelings in it. It makes me think that i want to keep on reading it.

I like this book because they alternate every chapter between the points of view of Rill (a young coyote) and Gabe (a middle school boy). I love how at the end of every chapter you just want to keep reading and hooks you in.

It was one of the best books I’ve ever read!!💜Rill was my favorite character because she is brave.
