This book was fantastic in multiple ways. It's great for kids who are feeling self-conscious about their body, or have people around them who are pressuring them to change in a way that could harm them. It encourages confidence and action against bullies. It's written in verse, which introduces new types of writing styles to kids, as poetry novels are not as known and recognized as they should be. It shows the effect of having a trustworthy and understanding person to talk about your life to, like a therapist, whom the main character, Ellie, sees regularly. Overall, it's an excellent book, and I would definitely recommend it.
Great book to read the way she stands up to bullies with fighting them ( I like the cake part ) so yeah good book😀
Starfish was a really good book but I also felt bad for the girl who was always made fun of and just wasn’t “allowed” to be herself. This book was really awesome because it shows that anyone can be heard and loved no matter who they are, what they look like and more! It gave me hope for people and me who are or were being bullied and just want to be themselves!❤️
I like this book because the moral was no matter what you look like you should always feel proud and be able to STARFISH. I also liked the structure of the book. It was very well written.
I really liked this book because it gave me courage to stand up to bullies who make fun of me because I wear glasses and my hair is very long. There is more to me than my glasses and hair, I am a person, not just an appearance. So what if you are fat?! That does not make you less than or more than. Don't be self conscience you are perfect in HASHEM's eyes, and made you the way you are. If folks have a problem with that then let that be THEIR problem. Sometimes people reflect their own insecurities onto you to make them feel better about themselves, don't take on their baggage and insecurities. Give them grace and walk away.
