Two girls somehow bond when they go to live with Valentina's grandmother in Leningrad after the explosion of Chernobyl, when they never would have otherwise. Meanwhile, the story of Rivka is shared, and I feel an especially deep connection with her because I also quite enjoy playing the flute. READ THIS BOOK IF YOU DON'T YOU WILL REGRET IT
I ordered this book a while ago, it has an amazing author and I'm glad they mention abuse and don't push the idea to the side. Children are getting abused by their parents, and children should understand it and be able to recognize a child that is in need. It has a good plot, realistic writing, and a well written depiction of Chernobyl. Read it!
Written well but didn't like the graphic details of the abuse
Hey this book
It is interesting to see what people of that age did. I am intrigued by how society worked in communist Russia.
