This is an interesting book. The main character, James, thinks his family is cursed because his mom is in jail, his dad was struck by lightening, and his grandma recently passed away. James lives with his Pappy. James makes a new friend and learns about his family history.

Nothing really special, a bit dark.

Not bad

On one side, it's an adventure with James and Paul as he avoids/fights the school bully. But on the other, it's a story in the past, of James's abuela, a healer who died recently. Then in the middle, it gets even more interesting as the two mix.

A good book but WAY too sad.
