If you like history and mystery, this is the perfect book for you. Bertie volunteers for the London civil defense in World War II, helping to warn people to go to a bomb shelter when an air raid is about to happen. One day while on duty he gets caught up in a drama that's bigger than him: a real-life spy story. Join him and his friends (including his wonderful dog Little Roo, who rescues people trapped under rubble after bombings) to unravel the mystery...and figure out who he can trust. The story also includes cipher systems used by spies and the French Resistance, so you can try your hand at secret communications.
An exciting WWII novel with action and suspense on every page. This book by Deborah Hopkinson will draw you in from a secret notebook to air raid sirens. Challenging ciphers for you to solve. Can Bertie Bradshaw save the Allies in the big invasion (D-day) and catch a traitor? Or will he fail? Read "How I became a spy" to find out.
I love this book! It is a great read for any time!!!! With codes in every section for YOU to figure out this is amazing. The plot itself would be enough to keep me hooked though. I would recommend it to anyone who likes mysteries, spy stories or WWII stories.
I loved reading it and solving the codes! Would definitely recommend.
