My mom's name is Esther, the main character's name is also Esther. The book deals with a Jewish family living in Cuba and I truly enjoyed reading it as it reminded me of my own family.
Three words: Best. Book. EVER! It's about a young girl named Esther, who immigrated to Cuba. Each chapter is a letter to her little sister, Malka, about her experiences in Cuba, the struggle to make enough money for the family's tickets to get to Cuba, and the way one particular man persecutes her and her Papa. I love that is in letter form, and the experiences are very descriptive. This my absolute favorite in PJ Our Way, always on the good shelf. Can't wait to read "Lucky Broken Girl", also by Ruth Behar!
One of the best books ever (other than Harry Potter😆)I loved it it is sad happy and exciting. Definitely recommend it if you like realistic fiction.
I like this book a lot even though I thought I wouldn’t. I liked that it had some history in it.
I loved it
