Engaging & Informative with Surprise Twist!

Review by whatyousay

Confession: This is a parent! I chose this book for my kid based upon my interpretation of the enticing brief description about a free-spirited, trail-blazing child. When it arrived, I didn't realize the protagonist was a few years younger than my child who initially expressed revulsion and rejection at the book. Yet, when we sat down together on the couch and started reading, we were HOOKED! The author writes in a very descriptive yet concise manner so this is actually a great chapter book for younger kids; at the same time, the trials and tribulations of this pretentious, vivacious, intuitive, forthright strong Jewish girl serve as an inspiration for all lone wolf iconoclasts! The surprise twist at the end of the book validates the quirky, spirited determination of the protagonist. Yes, Adina could be written off and dismissed as yet another ADHD kid, but she is far more than a label! I hope this book provides inspiration to all those kids labeled as "different" or "difficult."

This book was interesting and taught you some valuable knowledge but it was pretty short and I felt like the main part didn't really flow well with the rest of the story.
