Dramatic! Some parts made me cry! But... It was SOOOOO GOOOOD!😆
If you like fast-paced stories with lots of historical details and a narrator you'll cheer for, you'll love this book. Darya is a great main character: enslaved after being kidnapped as a young child, she remembers glimpses of her past with her family before becoming the personal servant to an officer's daughter. Because he wants his daughter to be independent if she needs to, he hires a tutor to teach her to read, and Darya learns along with her. This unusual skill for a girl comes in handy when her circumstances change (I won't spoil it by saying how) and she crosses paths with Queen Esther. Darya is a lovable, courageous, smart, and caring hero who helps Esther and the Persian Jewish community, as well as her friend Parvaneh. You'll celebrate with her when the mystery of her origins is solved in a satisfying way at the end.
This was a very interesting and very good book about Darya who is a slave and it has amazing structure! I would recommend reading this. The book is great and I am going to read a second time!!!
